Wearing a size 50, Jean Kinsella's clothing did not reflect her real age. She never imagined that only 18 months later she would buy dresses five sizes smaller. Jean decided to join Curves when she was tired of worrying about her appearance and health. Without knowing what to expect, she was surprised to discover how much she enjoyed her 30 minutes of training three times a week, but also how quickly she had taken up the challenge to improve her fitness. As she describes herself: "It was not the end of the world!" As Jean began to lose weight, her body strengthened. "I have more confidence in myself, I feel younger and have much more energy!" These visible changes have also encouraged Jean to adopt a healthier diet. "I replaced coffee with water and I always try to choose healthier meals. When we asked Jean how her adventure at Curves has changed her life and improved both her health and fitness, she says the benefits have been enormous. "I'm still in good shape and a much better mood!" she confessed. For her, the decision was "the best thing I did for myself for years."

In 2006, Julie Selway, a young mother in her thirties, realized she had truly become a prisoner of her routine: "Every morning I went to work, I came home for lunch, I watched television while eating, I drank cups of tea, I ate cookies and watched more TV. Then, I went to get my daughter from school and I started preparing dinner. " Julie was quite aware that her size 48 worried relatives: "My mother always told me I was getting too big." Julie knew that the time for change had come for the well-being of her and her family. "In my heart, I knew that my weight became uncontrollable and I had to react." In October 2007, she passed the doors of her local Curves and her life began to take another turn. To her surprise, Julie discovered she really enjoyed the exercise! Even if the Curves program is designed to deliver results in just 30 minutes, 3 times a week, Julie was so fond of her training sessions she began to go to the gym five times a week. "It was time that I reserved for myself." She quickly noticed the benefits of her new improved fitness: she had lost weight, she didn't have to buy clothes XXL and better yet, she had more energy to run after her little girl! Today slender, in a size 42, she thanks Curves for having helped her to enjoy life again: "Becoming a member of Curves ... has radically changed my lifestyle. " She now enjoys outdoor activities with her family, and is no longer afraid to meet new people. She has more confidence in herself. "I just wanted to say a big thank you."

Bridget Schmidt had struggled with her weight her whole life, but when she hit 255 pounds at only nineteen years of age she realized that she had to change her lifestyle. That’s when she discovered Curves and began our workout and weight loss program. After a short while she noticed the pounds starting to melt away! Bridget says, "Losing the weight was a long process and sometimes I felt like giving up, but the amazing support I received from my family and my local Curves kept me going.” According to Bridget, every time she worked out her fellow Curves members would tell her how great she looked and cheered her on. She was even nicknamed the “poster woman” at her Curves for her great success at the weight loss program. Her newly found self-assurance has lead her to pursue a career in nursing, which she says she would have never attempted at her past weight or mindset.
