"It is in large part thanks to Curves that
I delivered a healthy, happy baby girl
without gaining ANY weight (in fact I lost
a few pounds)!"

"About a year and a half ago my husband and
I started to think about having a baby.
We always knew we wanted kids but with the shape I was in I knew I'd have a hard
pregnancy and harder delivery, and figured
I better take care of myself before
committing to take care of someone else!
Now Lilia is here and I know it wouldn't
have been as wonderful a pregnancy, labor
and delivery if not for Curves whipping me into shape! What I didn't count on was all the love and support I would get from the whole San Francisco Marina Curves family from the amazing members to the awesome staff. I felt so loved and supported throughout my pregnancy." --Laura

"I always imagined but never believed I could be where I am today."

I joined Curves in late 2004. There are so many reasons why I joined, but honestly one of the most important reasons was self recognition of how negative my self- confidence and image became over the years. I’ve always been sociable, I have tons of friends, but I really began to believe that people around me at this point probably appreciated me more than I appreciated myself. I had always wanted to lose weight, and I felt it was finally time.
So, with good intentions, I started out coming in three times a week, lost a couple pounds and inches, things were looking good. But after a few months, the familiarity of my old “after work” routine became too comfortable, and sooner than later I found myself unenthusiastic to workout, slumped in front of the computer.
In October of 2007 after many phone calls and cute post cards sent by Curves staff, the guilt of not accomplishing something I so badly wanted took over me. I figured if Curves cares, then I should care just as much, and decided to give it another go. After a month or two of working out I noticed slight changes, but I wanted major changes. So with the help of the Curve’s staff we looked at my diet. I began to eat breakfast (which I hadn’t done in years), my snacks went from potato chips to cucumber chips, and I learned to incorporate whole grains, vegetables, and lean protein into my diet. Most importantly, I started drinking tons of water. This turn around produced the changes I wanted, and a little after one year I’ve lost 100 pounds! And the best thing about it is that it is all Curves, all me. No additional programs or “magic supplements." The Curves staff has taught me how to eat and live successfully, and I couldn’t be happier.
I owe an infinite amount of thank you’s to everyone. I always imagined but never believed I could be where I am today. The information and support I have received from Curves is irreplaceable, and the changes Curves has made in my life are priceless. I am a more confident, healthier individual, on a mission to continue on with my success. Thanks Curves, you have become my new, favorite, “after work” workout routine. --Cassie

“After a year in Iraq, my husband came home to a new woman. For the fi rst time in six years, I’ve held my head high. I now stand next to him with pride, instead of hiding behind him in shame because of my weight.”

Jasmine Confer joined Curves in January 2005, right after her husband of 10 years left for Iraq. At first she was a bit skeptical. "I was afraid to join another workout facility and never attend. I could not handle being a failure again." Fortunately she was greatly surprised with her commitment to Curves and with her weight loss results!
While Jasmine's husband was aware that she had joined Curves, during his time in Iraq she never sent him pictures of herself or spoke to him on the webcams that they had available through some of the computer labs. She also asked her friends not to talk about her weight loss or send him pictures of her.
"He would beg me to send him a picture of me and I would apologize and tell him I am sorry, he would have to make it out of Iraq alive and back home to me to see me again. I wanted him to have an extra incentive to come home, and extra initiative from me to keep working out."
In January 2006, Jasmine's husband called her to tell her he was coming home. On the day Jasmine picked him up from the airport, she says her heart was racing.
"After what seemed like forever, he came walking around the corner in his Marine Corp uniform and his eyes were the size of golf balls...he was so stunned and shocked it was me."
Then he hugged her and whispered in my ear, “I cannot believe that I finally get to hold you after all of this time. I cannot believe this is you and you are smiling back at me.” In this moment, Jasmine finally felt good about herself, which she says was a life altering moment.
"All that I had worked for at Curves had changed every aspect of my life and all made perfect sense right at the moment. He told everyone at the airport luggage rack that he barely recognized me and he could not stop putting his hands around my waist and hugging me. A year later (2007) this is still the case!"
