The weight management plan has taught me to make healthier choices and work on my metabolism, not just count calories. And even if I have a "bad" day (like having to do quality control on all the candies and sweets I made this Christmas) I can start right back up and not feel judged or ashamed in any way.

Mary walked through our doors early last October. Here is her success story just 40 workouts later!
I had gained a lot of weight due to inactivity and a hysterectomy earlier this year. I had heard about Curves and considered other gyms, but the fact that there are no men, was a big selling point. My first reaction to Curves was, "I can do this", but then I thought "how can I get a workout in 30 minutes?" Well I was sore the next day, and felt muscles I haven't felt in years.
The weight management program really helped me re-think the way I "diet". I tried way too many fad diets, and just thought that cutting the calories would help me lose the weight. Boy, was I wrong. The weight management plan has taught me to make healthier choices and work on my metabolism, not just count calories. And even if I have a "bad" day (like having to do quality control on all the candies and sweets I made this Christmas) I can start right back up and not feel judged or ashamed in any way. I am human just like everyone else. I have found that this is a learning process and I am training my body as well as my mind.
It took me quite awhile to put this weight on and I know it will take time and hard work to get it off. So setting realistic goals has helped ALOT. I take the Curves Time Released Biomultiple. It has actually made my nails grow again and it does give me energy. Although the only drawback is that I do feel it suppresses my appetite and some days I have a hard time consuming all the calories I need to. Putting myself on a schedule seems to help a lot.
On October 5, I set a goal of losing 25 pounds by Christmas, and as of today (Dec. 15th) I have lost 23 pounds, so I think I'll make it. I have worked out a lot, sometimes up to six days a week, but usually four or five. I know that's not realistic for everyone, but I knew I would have to work hard to achieve this goal.
From the first time I walked in and was greeted by Laura, I have felt welcomed and accepted as a woman, not just a membership. I feel part of a community of women working together to help and encourage each other. I am so excited and passionate about Curves that I told all my friends and even got my friend Carol to join. Now I am joining the staff and I get to work at something I love and truly believe in. I know I have been a member a short time but I feel as if I have found a place to belong, that helps me achieve my goals and now I get to help other women do the same.

At the beginning of 2009 I was on diabetic and anti-depresant medications. I joined Curves in September of the same year. In just a few months I had been able to stop taking these medications. Now I am on nothing! I feel great!

Curves is working for me, It is a program I can follow. I work out at least 3 times per week, but sometimes even 5 times per week.
I follow the Curves diet management plan to a certain point. With years of having a weight problem I know what I should do. The “Curves Fitness and Weight Management Plan” book is a good tool for me to use and get different ideas on food choices.
The staff also is a big PLUS. It is nice to be greeted by name when I come in. The staff is always willing to help me and answer my questions.
Since September 4 of this year, I have lost twelve pounds, eighteen and a half inches, and 2.65% body fat!

Karilyn has over 1,000 workouts at Curves and she is still singing the praises of the curves workout. She speaks the South Lyon curves and says, "They really care about you in this club."
