My name is Laurie Bridges and this is my Curves Complete story to share with all of you. Let me start with why I joined Curves. This year I went for my yearly physical, and had to get weighed in. The nurse put me on the weighted scale and it read 155 pounds! I said to the nurse, “I think your scale is wrong. Can we weigh again?” She just laughed and said my weight was okay. Are you kidding? Not with me! I know I am age 55 now, and will gain weight at this age, but this is not the weight I am comfortable with.
This led me to talk to my doctor about my weight, my age, and my plan to get myself back on track. She said my metabolism had slowed down tremendously since I am over the big 50! I was eating the same but I was eating wrong. She suggested I eat my larger portion/meal at lunch and eat a smaller portion/meal at dinner since I would not be able to burn up all the extra calories. Made sense to me! Then I mentioned the Curves Program and she supported me joining 100%! It’s a strength training program that is wonderful for women.
With that being said, me and my sister-in-law went in to try it out the following week. I knew instantly that I was ready to get going! I joined in May and worked at my eating habits on my own at first, changing my bigger meals to day and smaller meals at night. Then Sandy and Christine starting talking to us about the new Curves Complete Program; a 12 week weight loss program coming soon, and the weight loss guaranteed is 15-20 pounds! So I went home and just kept it on the back burner.
The price, at first, scared me and turned me off. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I could spend the money now on my health or pay later. The cost of medications, medical testing, and fast foods would all add up to the same, if not more! And so I decided to put the $199 into getting myself healthy!
I want to tell you, folks, it’s the best $199 I’ve spent in a long time! I can start by saying the program works! Since the program last 12 weeks, I was a bit skeptical about losing the weight with the upcoming holidays, but I wanted to be the first at the Roxboro Curves to see how the program works. Since I’ve eaten healthy most of my life, I knew I could do it, but I had to see if it works. It worked, even threw a birthday, Thanksgiving, a work Christmas party, and the stressful Christmas season in retail!
I’ve just finished my final week, can’t believe it’s 12 already, and I’ve lost a total of 17 pounds ( 12 ½ pounds with Curves Complete, plus another 5 pounds on Curves program alone before the new diet)! My inches have come off a lot quicker, and that may be the fact we are asked to work out 4 days a week at Curves and strength training adds muscle weight. I get measured this week, but so far I’ve lost over 22 inches! I am now wearing a size 8 and hoping to be in a size 6 by June of next year ?
The menu planning is all set out for you, they prepare the shopping list for you also, so all that’s involved is shopping and eating! It’s that simple! The weekly video is very encouraging and uplifting! The community blog is part of my daily routine, now, where we all come together and encourage each other and share stories, frustrations, and successes ?
I am both scared and excited about going it on my own, but knowing I have the tools to work with to keep me on track! I am looking forward to hearing about the new Curves Life Program next!

I joined Curves in June of 2004 after having a stroke. I was only thirty-nine years old and I knew that I needed to lose weight. That experience pushed me to do something about it.
The first time I walked into Curves, I knew it was for me. The owner, manager, and staff at Curves are devoted and caring. I feel that God put them at Curves for me.
If you have not been able to stick with a fitness routine, I recommend that you try Curves. My husband didn’t think I would stick with it or that I would lose weight. I proved him wrong. People tell me now, how different I look, and I know that my energy level has doubled since I joined Curves.
One of the things I like most about Curves is the family of support that I find there. They celebrate with me when I am on track with my goals and they encourage me to get back on track when I slip up. (I love to eat double chocolate ice cream ?).
I have been a member of curves for over six years and have completed over 1000 work-outs. Yes, Curves keeps track of the number of times we work-out and reward us with a Curves t-shirt at each 100 work-out milestone.
I encourage others to try Curves. It is the only fitness program that I have been able to stick with.

I joined Curves in June of 2001. After retiring, I found myself not being as active as I needed to be. Curves “women only” atmosphere appealed to me.
I have stayed with Curves for the fun of being with old friends and new friends, that I have made at Curves. I have found the Curves work-out to be beneficial to my physical well-being and the social aspect of Curves to be beneficial to my mental well-being.
One of the things I like most about Curves is the opportunity to share information and ideas. We share recipes, discuss politics and many other things while working out. If you have not tried Curves yet, I recommend that you try it –you don’t know what you are missing. I come at 7:30 a.m. for an early morning wake up.
If you have tried Curves in the past, you must give it another try. We have new management and she has given the club a lovely face lift, added more equipment and turned Curves into a technologically advanced facility that offers real time performance feedback.
The staff at Curves know what they are doing and how to help you get the most from your workout. They greet us everyday with a smile and follow our workout with enthusiasm.
