When Diane Jordan made the decision to join Curves in 2006, her morale was "at the bottom." His size 60 did not only affect her pride; she seriously endangered her life. She had all the risks of developing hypertensive disorders, diabetes or suffering a stroke, among other serious health problems. At Curves, Diane learned that some small changes could make all the difference. Encouraged by the staff of Curves and the 30 minute workout three times a week, she began to drink water every day and eat smaller healthier food portions. She also began eating more fruits and vegetables. In just two years, Diane's efforts have paid off. She has now lost nearly 32 kilograms and wears size 14 dresses! She is proud of her efforts and said, thinking of her debut at Curves, "Since that time, I built a new life and I now have more confidence in myself and my body." Thinking about her new figure and the changes it has brought to her every day life, Diane recalls: "The last time I was this thin, I was a teenager!". In addition to this, Diane told us that before joining Curves and begin this adventure, she had never owned a pair of jeans or a single dress. After losing nearly 32 kg, jeans and dresses have now become two essential elements of her new wardrobe.

  • "I have more confidence in myself, I feel younger and have much more energy!"

Wearing a size 50, Jean Kinsella's clothing did not reflect her real age. She never imagined that only 18 months later she would buy dresses five sizes smaller. Jean decided to join Curves when she was tired of worrying about her appearance and health. Without knowing what to expect, she was surprised to discover how much she enjoyed her 30 minutes of training three times a week, but also how quickly she had taken up the challenge to improve her fitness. As she describes herself: "It was not the end of the world!" As Jean began to lose weight, her body strengthened. "I have more confidence in myself, I feel younger and have much more energy!" These visible changes have also encouraged Jean to adopt a healthier diet. "I replaced coffee with water and I always try to choose healthier meals. When we asked Jean how her adventure at Curves has changed her life and improved both her health and fitness, she says the benefits have been enormous. "I'm still in good shape and a much better mood!" she confessed. For her, the decision was "the best thing I did for myself for years."

Weighing just under 90 kg and with a youthful appearance, Millie McPhillips knew she was overweight. But it was not her only problem: "When I was walking up a hill or as I climbed the stairs, I gasped." Millie also hated to buy clothes and suffered from "abnormally high" blood pressure. Millie wanted to have the energy to play with her grandchildren, but she also dreamed of a marathon. With these two objectives in mind, she became a member of Curves. She talks about the invaluable support of Curves coaches, "Curves staff members, past and present, encouraged me and motivated me to do physical training three times a week. They managed to ensure that I stay focused on my goal. " Less than a year after enrolling at Curves, Millie had lost almost 20 kgs! She got back to enjoying life and declares, in speaking of her new physical form: "Today, playing with my adored grandchildren became a great pleasure because I have more energy." Her dream to participate in a mini-marathon has also become possible and plans to participate in Dublin Women's mini-marathon. With regular exercise at Curves and a more balanced diet, Millie seems to have returned from years back. "I feel healthier and in better physical condition than 15 years ago!" Millie does not only "feel" better, her blood pressure is back to normal and she no longer takes medication to lower it.
